AquiTec walks away with main prize at Retail Systems Awards – Supply Chain Solution of the Year.
November 17th, 2006 – Global supply chain software provider AquiTec and Focus DIY fought off stiff competition to win first prize in the Supply Chain Solution of the Year category in the inaugural Retail Systems awards. AquiTec’s Chief Executive, Frank Arico and Steve Cosgrove, IT Director at Focus DIY collected the award in front of an audience of retail technology movers and shakers at the Grosvenor Park Hotel on Tuesday 14th November.
To win the award, AquiTec and Focus DIY had to convince the judges of the business and cost-saving benefits of the introduction of voice directed picking at the retailer’s distribution centres in Tamworth and Bristol. They also had to demonstrate how the project helped improve supply chain visibility and integrated with Focus DIY’s existing IT infrastructure.
The judges commented: ‘This project was carried out with minimal disruption to the business and has greatly improved productivity and accuracy across the supply chain.’
Steve Cosgrove, IT Director of Focus DIY added: “This award confirms AquiTec’s status as a key technology partner for us. We are thrilled with the recognition this gives the IT and Supply Chain teams in Focus and the close working relationship that we have with AquiTec. The voice picking technology has provided us with a more productive distribution operation with great potential for the future. We are already talking to our Supply Chain colleagues and AquiTec about how to prioritise the next set of voice improvements.”
Frank Arico, AquiTec’s Chief Executive, concluded: “Obviously this is an important milestone for AquiTec and confirms our status as a player to watch in the industry. Above all I am pleased for the project management team who worked so hard to make this project a huge success on many levels.”
